Electric Motor AMP Draw

An electric motor is a common source of energy for a mixer or agitator. To use an electric motor be careful to choose the right enclosure to meet your process area requirements. Some common AC motor enclosure types are:

ODP = open drip proof
TEFC = totally enclosed fan cooled (most common for non hazardous areas)
WD = washdown duty, IP55
XP = explosion proof for hazardous locations
ALL STAINLESS STEEL = for sanitary applications
MILL + CHEMICAL DUTY = for corrosive applications
INVERTER DUTY – for use with variable speed drives, often times the TEFC motor used as standard with be inverter duty rated
GEARMOTOR – higher torque slower speed motor/gearbox combo
DC = for laboratory mixers DC motors are also available

115volt 1phase (standard 110 or 115volt style plug)
NOTE: for industrial and sanitary mixers and agitators, 110volt 1phase input to the motor is typically for 1.5hp mixers and less.   We do offer variable speed drives for AC mixer motors up to 1.0hp as standard, so you can basically run any 1/4 – 1hp mixer, direct or gear drive, with 110volt 1phase power (standard plug in wall 20amp circuit breaker).   WMProcess offers a variety of agitation controls, we can pre wire for you as an option, and can quote any variable speed drive (VFD or VSD), tachometer package, XP controls, etc as desired.
